Add Custom Fields in ListView

Salesforce list views help teams access important records quickly, but keeping their columns updated across multiple list views can become time-consuming as an organization grows. When users need additional information, administrators may have to update each list view individually.

If you need to add custom fields as columns to multiple Salesforce list views, BOFC (Bulk Object Field Creator) provides a point-and-click way to perform these updates in bulk.

This guide explains how to add custom fields to multiple list views across standard and custom objects using BOFC, without manually editing each view.

Standard way to add Custom Fields to List Views in Bulk

Salesforce allows users to customize the columns displayed in individual list views through the Select Fields to Display option. However, updating multiple list views individually can involve repetitive work.

To add custom fields to multiple list views in one operation using BOFC:

  1. Open BOFC and select Add / Remove from List Views.
  2. Choose the Add operation.
  3. Select the Salesforce objects and fetch their list views.
  4. Select the list views and custom fields you want to add.
  5. Apply the changes and review the status of each list view.

Follow the detailed instructions below for the complete process.

What to Check After Updating Salesforce List Views

After completing the operation, review the status displayed for each selected list view. Confirm that the intended fields appear in the appropriate views and that the changes meet the requirements of the users who rely on them.

If a list view reports an error, review the result and investigate the relevant configuration or access requirements before retrying the update.

Keep in mind that Salesforce list views display information according to the user’s access to records and fields. Adding a field as a column does not grant additional permissions to view its data.
