Yes, we can "Update" or "Import" Profile / Permission Sets using BOFC. In this feature, user will be able to clone the profile/permission sets from any external Salesforce org (org in which BOFC is not currently installed) to the org in which BOFC is installed. In this feature, user is provided with an option to:
  • "Override" any existing profiles / permission sets with the same name
  • "No-Override" in which only "Clone" or "Create" the profiles which are not available.
Using BOFC all the properties of profiles/permission sets are cloned like:

  3. - Record Type Settings
  4. - Field Permissions
  5. - Tab Settings
  6. - Page-Layout Assignments

Yes, BOFC can compare profiles / permission sets of same or different orgs at the same time. Using BOFC, user can compare profiles / permission sets with same (or different) names across multiple orgs.
Using BOFC, user can perform actions on Managed or Unmanaged Components.
  • Unmanaged component means the Properties / Components which are created in this org and are NOT part of any (Managed/Installed) packages/apps.
  • Managed component means the Properties / Components which are NOT created in this org and are part of any (Managed/Installed) packages/apps.
On Export / Compare page of BOFC, user has an option to choose whether they want to perform action on "Unmanaged" or "Managed" or both type of components.
